This complex single vineyard wine is from Auckland's Awhitu Peninsula with its unique meso climate. The 'terroir' of the warm, free draining soil and low rainfall area is displayed in this truly handcrafted small volume syrah so carefully harvested by friends and family.

The 100% Syrah wine is made in a Rhone style with classic French winemaking techniques and matured in 50% new and seasoned barriques for 14 months.

The nose suggests lifted aromas of dark berry fruits, leather and peppery spice, while the palate reflects integrated tannins and full bodied layers of flavour.

The wine has been minimally filtered to retain its character and may leave a maturation deposit.

Great now or rewards cellaring 2-6 years.

Only a limited number of cases have been produced of this handcrafted wine, created in a traditional Burgundian style, from a small and unique vineyard on Auckland's Awhitu Peninsula.

Carefully harvested by friends and family, then whole bunch pressed directly to barrel. Regular lees stirring over 10 months in new and seasoned oak has produced a fine, elegant wine for those who appreciate Chardonnay with finesse.

Careful cellaring for 4 - 6 years will bring rewards.
